MOLLY SUZANNE THOMAS-BOWDEN
End of Watch: February 10, 2005
Officer Molly Bowden was mortally wounded while conducting the routine traffic stop of Richard Evans on the night of January 10, 2005.
Officer Bowden was initially shot and wounded in the shoulder. As she retreated to the rear of Evans vehicle for cover Evans then exited and shot her in the neck. After she fell to the ground, Evans shot at her two more times, striking her in the neck again.
The following morning, the suspect shot and wounded a second Columbia officer who was staking out his mother's home. The suspect then committed suicide.
Officer Bowden was treated at University Hospital. She was put in a drug induced coma to fight an infection and would never recover. She passed away on February 10, 2005 at the age of 26 years old.
